siyaa baahiraa. Katamaa ca, Raahula, ajjhattikaa vaayodhaatu? Ya.m ajjhatta.m paccatta.m vaayo vaayogata.m upaadinna.m, seyyathida.m -
uddha'ngamaa vaataa, adhogamaa vaataa, kucchisayaa vaataa, ko.t.thaasayaa vaataa, a'ngama'ngaanusaarino vaataa, assaaso passaaso,
iti ya.m vaa panaññampi kiñci ajjhatta.m paccatta.m vaayo vaayogata.m upaadinna.m - aya.m vuccati, Raahula, ajjhattikaa
vaayodhaatu. Yaa ceva kho pana ajjhattikaa vaayodhaatu yaa ca baahiraa vaayodhaatu vaayodhaaturevesaa. Ta.m 'neta.m mama, nesohamasmi, na

The wind element may be internal or external.

And what, Rahula, is the internal wind element?
Ya.m ajjhatta.m paccatta.m vaayo
vaayogata.m upaadinna.m, seyyathida.m -

That, internally, and individually, is wind, windy, and clung to,

uddha'n-gamaa vaataa, adho-gamaa
vaataa, kucchi-sayaa vaataa, ko.t.thaa-sayaa vaataa, a'ngam-a'nga-anusaarino
vaataa, assaaso passaaso,
upwards-going / winds / downwards-going / winds / existing
in the belly / winds / exising in the abdomen / winds / limbs-following /
in-breath / out-breath
winds going upwards, winds going downwards, winds in the belly, winds in
the abdomen, winds going across the limbs, in-breathing, out-breathing,

uddha.m - upwards.

adho - downwards.

kucchi - belly.

kucchisaya - existing in the
belly.

This, Rahula, is called the internal wind element.
Yaa c-eva kho pana ajjhattikaa
vaayo-dhaatu yaa ca baahiraa vaayo-dhaatu vaayo-dhaatu-r-ev-esaa.
that / and-very / indeed / but / internal / motion-element /
that / and / external / motion-element / thus this motion element
But that very internal motion element and that external motion element are
simply motion element.
Ta.m 'n-eta.m mama, n-eso-ham-asmi,
na m-eso attaa'ti -
that / not-this / mine / not this I am / not / for me-this

Thus "this is not mine, this I am not, this is not myself"
evam-eta.m yathaabhuuta.m sammappaññaaya da.t.thabba.m.
thus this / just as it is / with right wisdom / is to be
seen
is to be seen with right wisdom just as it is.
Evam-eta.m yathaabhuuta.m sammappaññaaya disvaa vaayo-dhaatuyaa nibbindati, vaayo-dhaatuyaa citta.m
viraajeti.
thus this / just as it is / with right wisdom / having
seen / [on] motion element / becomes dispassionate / from motion element / mind /
detaches
Having seen this with right wisdom just as it is, (one) becomes
dispassionate towards the motion element (and) detaches the mind from the motion
element.
"And what, Rahula, is the
wind element? The wind element may be internal or external. And what, Rahula, is the internal
wind element? That, internally, and individually, is wind, windy, and clung to,
namely: winds going upwards, winds going downwards, winds in the belly, winds in
the abdomen, winds going across the limbs, in-breathing, out-breathing, or whatever else internally, and individually is
wind, windy and clung
to. This, Rahula, is called the internal wind element. But that very internal
motion element and that external motion element are
simply motion element. Thus "this is not mine, this I am not, this is not myself"
is to be seen with right wisdom just as it is. Having seen this with right wisdom just as it is, (one) becomes
dispassionate towards the motion element (and) detaches the mind from the
motion
